Planting Seeds (the incident referred to in this letter happened 14 years ago)
Good evening Mr. Stewart. Please accept my humblest apology for an event which occurred quite some time ago. In 8th grade, you gave a speech to the track team discussing an incident regarding a duck call. I chose to make some smart ass comments instead of learning from the situation and my actions have bothered me for quite some time. I'd like to thank you for sharing your experience and also apologize for my rude behavior that afternoon. I understand this may be too little too late but it is something that has bothered me for quite some time. I hope you accept my apology. Thank you for always being a good neighbor and a good coach.
My Response
I am sorry that bothered you for so long. I gladly accept your apology. What I have always tried to do is plant seeds of leadership and other positive actions. Obviously, that seed has been trying to grow for quite some time. Today, by this message, it has bloomed. Your timing, by the way is perfect. Self doubty plagues all of us from time to time. The recent economy has not been friendly. So, today was the perfect day for this e-mail. Thanks, again.
